In 2004, Hypercom took transaction transport to a new level with the introduction
of the HBNet Secure Transaction Network. In 2010, Hypercom formed a joint venture
with The McDonnell Group that will equip payment processors, banks and retailers
worldwide with highly reliable and cost-effective data communications services
for transaction-based applications. The joint venture will be called Phoenix
Managed Networks LLC.
When powered with the new network service of its own robust, ultra-high density
MegaNAC network access controllers (NACs), the Phoenix Managed Networks service is
strategically positioned within the Public Switching Telephone Network (PSTN) and
at processor data centers.
Committed to delivering market-driven, innovative solutions, Phoenix Managed Networks
is the ideal choice for payment, ATM, healthcare network processors and others.
Seamless Switching
Phoenix Managed Networks call-terminating equipment is located at multiple operating centers within
the PSTN structure and configured with automatic failover between centers, with
each center capable of handling 50% of the overall network’s volume. If a single
Phoenix Managed Network center becomes unavailable, the traffic is switched to another center without
any manual intervention or user awareness. This constant monitoring of the backbone,
instantaneous re-convergence and redundant access points, make switching seamless
to the customer.
Intelligent Routing
The Phoenix Managed network provides far more than simple routing of transactions from “point
A” to “point B.” Throughout its 27-year history, Hypercom- designed networking equipment
has significantly influenced the technology of transaction routing and has helped
establish criteria for determining the appropriate destinations of transactions.
Today, Phoenix Managed Networks can route transactions based on the DNIS of the call, the type of message
format, the TPDU within the transaction or a combination of these. Furthermore,
Phoenix Managed Networks can route to multiple processing endpoints with just a
single call from the POS device using processor-established
rules for routing to primary destinations, secondary destinations and even last
resort destinations. Phoenix Managed Networks can build routing structures to meet the most stringent
processing requirements and ensure that transactions are always processed quickly
and cost-effectively.
Flexible, Robust Host Interface
Phoenix Managed Networks service delivers equipment redundancy and dual communication paths into every
processor’s data center. Network capacity planning, both at project inception and
ongoing, ensures that sufficient equipment is available to service the entire transaction
load on one set of POS concentrator nodes, allowing optimal system availability
and peace of mind. Phoenix Managed Networks also provisions dual communications circuits into each
processor data center and provides options for Frame Relay, point-to-point circuits,
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and dial back-up.
