Complete Product Family

EPP v5 is a family of vandal-proof and weather-resistant PIN pads specifically designed for self-service systems that meet PIN authorised debit and credit card standards, which also need to comply with disability access requirements. The product family includes several different versions:

  • EPP v5 Numeric, for standard PIN verification
  • EPP v5 Combi Alpha, combining text editing with PIN verification
  • EPP v5 Multi Alpha with integrated track ball for use with systems supporting multiple options

Despite the wide variety of options supported, the EPP family utilises common user interfaces and standard formats.

Open Software Architecture

EPP v5 supports an open software architecture, which includes a secure operating system dedicated to performing a large range of cryptographic functions. Encryption
and decryption is performed at the software level, which allows new industry requirements to be met. Independent applications can also be loaded without compromising the secure software already running. Software and cryptographic
keys are downloadable from the parent host system via a data interface.

Maximum Security

A dedicated security module, with high performance 32-bit RISC processor, is used to perform all cryptographic functions, and provides security for PIN entry through the
numeric keypad. Any attempt at fraudulent attack results in the erasure of secure data. EPP v5 meets the latest industry requirements for security and has a variety of international certifications.
Robust and Reliable

EPP v5 is designed to operate in a wide range of environmental conditions. Indoors or outdoors, in high temperatures, rain or snow, the EPP v5 operates with a high degree of reliability. The solid metal keyboard provides resistance against vandalism, and a dedicated gasket protects against the entrance of sand and liquids. As a result, EPP v5 is able to withstand:

  • Penetration of liquids (e.g. drinks, cleaner) and solid material (e.g. sand or dust)
  • Penetration of chemically reactive liquids (e.g. gas, oil, acetone)
  • Appliance of external force (e.g. a blow with a hammer)
  • Appliance of external heat (e.g. lighter or cigarette)
